The overlay runs on your own machine — audio goes straight from it to the transcription provider and never through our servers. Sign in inside the app with the same account you use here. Latest version 0.2.4.

Windows

In development

Not available yet. Capturing the other side of a call and reading the screen are done through macOS frameworks, so Windows needs its own implementation of both rather than a recompile.

No release date yet.

Linux

In development

Not available yet, for the same reason as Windows — system-audio capture and on-screen text recognition are written against macOS frameworks and have no portable equivalent.

No release date yet.

First launch needs one extra step

You only do this once. Later versions install from inside the app — it checks for one on launch, and Settings has a button — so you do not come back here for every release.

This build is not yet notarised by Apple, so macOS will say it “cannot be opened” the first time. It is not damaged. Open the disk image, drag the app to Applications, then right-click the app and choose Open — confirm once and it launches normally from then on.

If macOS still refuses, remove the download quarantine flag:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/AIssist.app"

After installing

  1. 1. Open Settings in the overlay and sign in with your account.
  2. 2. Grant Microphone and Screen Recording when asked. Screen recording is how it hears the other participants; no video is recorded.
  3. 3. Press start when your call begins. Paused minutes are not billed.

Why screen recording?

macOS routes another app's audio — the voices on your call — through the same permission it uses for screen capture. The overlay uses it to read that audio, and to OCR the screen only when you ask for an answer. The overlay window itself is excluded from capture, so it never appears in a call you are sharing.
